Setting a theme for the party is a good place to start the process. Some showers just use the baby as a theme and if you know the sex of the child it’s easy to start thinking in pink or blue. However, since some parents have a theme already picked out for the baby’s room, incorporating that in to the party theme is a good idea.

Baby shower party favors can become keepsakes after the party. Handmade party favors make excellent sentimental gifts for guests and great prizes for those baby shower games. Not to mention they can be less expensive and more personalized, than store bought party favors. If you are not handy consider sharing the duties with a crafty friend, and having them help you come up with and create the party favors. Remember to make extra favors since sometimes people ask for an extra favor to take home. Store bought party favors have become a lot more specialized in recent years. There are many stores that can personalize shower favors and other decorations for a party. Some items are just easier to purchase than to make. For instance, diaper cakes are popular these days and although you can make your own if you have the know-how, it might be easier to just buy one.

Remember your audience when selecting party favors

If you are throwing a kid-friendly or coed shower, keep that in mind when choosing party favors. Don’t give out anything that is too frilly or unsafe for children. You may want to plan on having a few different favors that each cater to the guests at the party. Party planning is a lot of work but also very rewarding when you witness it all come together to create a fun and memorable event for all.
